Q1. How would you assess the attractiveness of the circus industry in early 1980s? What would you conclude from industry analysis?
The Circus has been an extremely popular form of entertainment during the 20th century. The circus creates an image of drifters and dreamers in the mind. In the 20th century the emphasis on spectacle continued on 3 ring formats.
The following factors played a major role in the attractiveness of the circus industry:- * Animal acts provided an added form of entertainment along with the various circus acts. Electric lights and moving pictures also added to the magic of the circus. * A series of ‘educational entertainments’ featuring people and historical montages from around the world.

2. Citizens losing respect for the media :
Citizens had been lately viewing the journalist’s behaviour as unethical, accentuating violence and increasing obscene content in newspapers. They accused media of disrespecting privacy of stars and celebrities and exaggerating stories to claim exclusivity. As a result Hong Kong Press council was established on 2000. 3. Dry style of newspaper reporting shunned :
Newspapers such as HKEJ with high quality content concerning economic and current affairs but at the same time having a dry style of reporting news was being shunned by markets. Its approach did not appeal to mass market and circulation dropped drastically. 4. Launch of free papers :
Launch of free papers such as Metropolis Daily, Headline Daily and am730 captured a market share of 10% of advertising revenue available for newspapers. And some dailies started price cutting campaign to increase the circulation. 5. Online Media :
The impact of Internet has changed the direction of newspaper market. Several newspapers started offering online edition of their newspapers. People in the age group of 18-35 segments prefer online versions and it is a growing segment.
