In America today, there are protests, revolts, and chaos slipping through the cracks of the tranquil states of the united nations. Imagine living under the rule of a tyrannical leader who did all sorts of inequitable things. Would you just sit there like a puppet on a stage, or would you stand up and do what is right? Without civil disobedience, our generation would be a joke. Would African-Americans and other minorities have the same rights as white people? Would America, even exist? What makes a society, a society is the willingness to take on different perspectives of diverse ideas. In the 1960’s there was a Civil Right’s Movement going on in the United States. African-Americans were tired of being treated inhumanely and rebelled against racial discrimination. Let’s say that leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X, did not disagree with segregation laws, and just sat there with no voice. Many things today would have changed such as the rights of minorities would probably reduce and wouldn't be equivalent to the rights of a white person. When sitting down on the front of that bus, Rosa Parks knew the consequences of the act. She was the fire, that sparked the voice in many African-Americans opposes such unjust laws. In America, we are going through some of those acts right now. The act of speaking up when feeling a law is unjust or being unfair is crucial to a society. Civil disobedience literally is the essence needed in many lands and is what separates a foolish society from a society that speaks up when they feel something is wrong when knowing the consequences of the act. Civil disobedience rightfully impacts a society positively and brings awareness to a country and laws are changed. Also, civil disobedience is what assures people that their voices will be heard and all you have to do is speak
