Thoreau’s Civil Disobedience is full of different stylistic features that enable the reader to vividly interpret his ideas. Many of the paragraphs hold a variety of stylistic devices and contribute to an essential role in the development of the emotional aspect of the piece. Some stylistic devices like metaphors, repetition, and parallelism are used to convince and motivate the audience to rebel against the government’s injustice. Henry David Thoreau uses certain stylistic features in paragraph 19 as they affect the appeal of the emotional power of the piece.
