There is no denying that the government should be afraid of their people instead of the other way around because the power of people’s choices/actions can impact civil tensions, trigger rebellion, and have an influence on personal freedoms/rights controlled by governments. The government’s job is to serve the people, however, when governments do not take into account of this ideology, civil tensions around nations can spark leading to protests, riots, and even war. In the movie “V for Vendetta”, the High Councillor Adam Sutler (apart of Norsefire), covered up an epidemic that killed 80,000 people by stating it was a terrorist attack when it was actually a genocide by Norsefire and they wanted to make money off of the “cure” of this disease. The next point is that these insecurities within the citizens trusting the government can spark protests and uprisings fueled by injustices. As seen at the end of the movie, thousands and thousands of citizens wore Guy Fawkes masks and marched outside of Parliament to see it get blown up in a display of fireworks. To the citizens, this was not just about the physical Parliament building being blown up but was symbolic of a new chapter of independence for England where discrimination and injustice (like racism) will have no place and personal freedoms and rights will be respected. Rebellion and uprisings show governments powerful messages that the citizens want change and are willing to go through anything to achieve that. Lastly, governments should fear the citizens because citizens can fight against injustice which was a large theme in the movie. For example, Adam Sutler was a fascist leader who only believed in one supreme race and anyone who opposed that ideology or did not fit into it was
