How did the Civil War change the United States? The Civil War was one of the biggest events that has ever take place in the United States. Lives were being taken daily along with many men's pride. The war was destructive to our land, economy, and many of our american families.The difference between the Northerners and the Southern men almost tore apart our country for good, until we found the leadership to restore us as a country rather than a diversity. The leaders and the men that fought to restore our country are the one’s who helped change America for the better. One of the biggest conflicts among many people was the equality of the black race. Throughout the war both sides were continuously fighting for their certain beliefs and viewpoints that they believed should be upheld in the american government. While they were fighting every day to state their viewpoints they were also losing life after life. In (document F) it states that a soldier's leg was amputated on the battlefield in 1864. The lack of advanced medicine was a huge problem and many lives were lost due to many injuries that were then known as incurable .The deaths that were taking place were do to many of the disagreements among the opposing armies. The Ku Klux Klan was also responsible for many deaths among the black human race (Document E). The major problems of death, equality, and leadership all played a huge roll in how our country was supposed to reunite to become one again. Many of the difficulties we faced are still not completely settled to this day, but we were able to put aside our personal differences for the better of our country. I truly believe that a great country starts with great leadership and that is what led us out of the whole that the country so long suffered from.
