America’s history is constituted of many significant historical events. One of the most debated events in history is the Civil War. Many historians argue on whether the Civil War was inevitable or not, and the events that lead to this fate. The truth is, there was no escaping it; the war was bound to happen. The Civil War occurred because of the different views on American politics, the split views on slavery and industrialization, and the foreign affairs. America was never the utopian country. The problem began with the division of wealthy and lower class during the mid 1700s. The people of the New World started to divide due to the War of Independence. There were people who were in favor of the war, patriots, and people who were against the war, loyalist. Eric Foner describes this as “civil war among Americans.” The Loyalist were mostly made up of the wealthy elite class in which the taxes imposed by Britain, did not effect. The middle and lower class made up the patriots, who were strongly opposed to the war. This split between the classes is what will originally divide the country into sections.
