When thinking about how great society is, humans forget how horrible it could become. One major conflict that happens everyday, is civility v.s. savagery. Civility is when people put aside their darker needs, and puts what's best for the community first. While savagery is when humans lose their humanity, or they cannot tell the difference between right and wrong. This is evident in the book, Lord of the Flies. In this novel, civility starts out strong, and, slowly but surely, savagery takes control. Lord of the Flies demonstrates savagery and civility as characters in the reading.
