Since the beginning of time, people have been settling and claiming land left and right. People may not have known the logistics of how to claim property and land accordingly, but this did not mean that they had no clue about what the end goal was. The all American dream consists of having a loving family, well paying job, and a substantial amount of land. Throughout history, the act of buying, selling and trading land has evolved over the years into a well-oiled machine that helps make the world go round. However, it didn’t always use to be like this. From people building and growing their worth of land, society grew along with it. Now, with more and more people claiming land, settlements develop, and when settlements develop a foundation is born. When you look at it from a broader point of view, not every place is the same when it comes to claiming and settling land. The land for instance, during the early 1600s and late 1700s, slave owners in American determined how much land they had by the number of slaves they had. This amount of land would also determine their status in the community and this number would also determine the amount of power the owner has in the community. Before this land was just a piece of the earth to claim, to grow crops and to build a life. Yet, now the amount of land you own determines the amount of money you make a year and with this total comes the feeling of power. Even though the focus wasn’t always on power, history always has a way of shaping the future outlook of the world. Without history, people wouldn’t learn from their mistakes on a personal level and on a worldly level. For example, an explorer might have named features and envisaged routes and prospects without telling anyone or writing anything down
