After reading the first chapters of “Wieland and Memoirs of Carwin the Biloquist” by Charles Brockden Brown, it is evident that Clara Wieland is greatly affected by her father’s death. Within the first paragraph, she informs us that we do not fully know her sorrows and we are strangers to her sufferings. Therefore, she states she is here to inform us of the events that her family has gone through and that she is not to look for sympathy. Right away in the first chapter, Clara’s mental state seems to be unhopeful and slightly indifferent. She states “With regards to myself, I have nothing more to fear.
