After growing up rough and being in a poor town, many don’t want to or have ever even seen a sunset. In the novel, The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, There is a gang in the south side of the big city. There are many members ranging from Dallas Winston, the tough, unemotional man to Johnny Cade the shy and quiet little boy. However, they manage to stay as a family and they take care of each other, mainly demonstrated after Johnny kills a Soc and Dallas helps him and Ponyboy skip town and evade the police. In the novel the character Dallas faces the conflicts of being demanding, dauntless and hardheaded. The tough and seemingly sophisticated Dallas Winston faces many conflicts which are seen by his demanding, dauntless and hardheaded personality. …show more content…
He is seen trying to flirt with and even embarrass girls who are uninterested. “I had a feeling Dally was up to his usual trick and I was right.” Ponyboy Thought. Dallas often vandalizes cars to get something out of it. “And Dally deserves whatever he gets cause’ slashin’ ain’t no joke.” Says Two-bit. Dally often comes off as demanding as he often flirts with girls and he vandalizes cars.

Dally is easily portrayed as dauntless. He is often arrested because he fearlessly commits crimes. “I didn’t know you were out of the cooler yet, Dally.” Ponyboy exclaims. He also mindlessly jumped into the rumble between the greasers and the socs after being injured.”The rumble was on. Dallas Winston ran in to join us… Dallas was right beside me, already on top of someone.” Ponyboy thinks. A dauntless character has all of the traits you can see in Dally.

Despite Dallas calling himself smart, often he is known to be hardheaded. He didn’t allow the nurse to tend to his burnt arm because he wanted space. Dallas-”Hospital people won’t let me out to smoke, I want out.” He robbed a store to get himself killed after witnessing Johnny’s death. “...Dallas Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted.” Dallas is a very hardheaded person even though he thinks he is
