I would use the basal in my classroom, especially the first couple of years I start to teach. The basal is like a guide for the teacher on what to teach. It has steps by steps on what to say and do with your students. I think the basal is an important tool because it has a lot of resources that are provided by the school, where the teacher does not have to waste any of their own money. I think as I become more comfortable as a teacher I will start to use some of my own ideas and not the ideas or lessons on the basal. I would still use the basal especially the stories it provides because each of students would have a book with the story. I would just have other activities to go along with the stories provided in the basal. I think the basal is a great resource to go to and get ideas one lesson plans. As, I said before I would definitely use the basal to help me as a first year teacher and as the years go along as a resource tool to come up with lesson plans that meet the state standards. …show more content…
it has lesson plans for each day of the week. Each day there is a lesson plan or activity having to do with reading (comprehension and vocabulary), word study/phonics (spelling), oral language (speaking, listening, and viewing), and writing (grammar, usage, and mechanics). One think I like about the basal is how each story has vocabulary words that go along with the story. I would definitely use then as vocabulary words and maybe even use them as the spelling words. Another think that the basal provides that is very helpful is it has comprehension question that can be asked as the teacher and students read the story. One strength the basal has is, it provides the teacher with leveled practice worksheets for students at different levels. It has an easy, on level, and challenge work sheet. This awesome to help differentiate instructions for
