Clear the Fog In the 1950s, treatment of mental illness was at its highest peak, and at its most dangerous point. Because of the new discoveries to treat the mentally ill in the1950s, dangerous medicines and operations were used on people without much research. Patients were introduced to methods such as Electric Shock Therapy, drugs, and lobotomies. These methods were performed without consideration of the physical strain it took on the patient. And befrore I realized what I was doing, I told him Thank you."After McMurphy gives Bromden the gum the two share some laughs and exchange stories with each other. The deal they agree to is- if McMurphy pays for Bromden to go on the fishing trip, Bromden has to lift the control panel that McMurphy failed to make Bromden big again.
