I have utilized multiple interventions during the five sessions that my client attended. After my initial session, I began utilizing stress inoculation training as a way to help the client when she became angry or had panic attacks (Wolsford, 2009). The client continued to display negative self-talk week after week discussing traumatic situations and everyday problems. To counteract the negative self-talk, I used positive talk and reframing to encourage the client to see how her life could be different if she attempted to change her mood and worldview. As the sessions continued, the client was able to effectively use breathing techniques out in the world and continually reported the use, especially when she “had family meals at restaurants”. As a Cognitive Behavioral Theorist, I believed strongly in setting structure and boundaries with the client in session. During the third session, my client began to use more counseling time to recount her weekly problems. With each worksheet, the client and I discussed what she liked about the worksheet, what challenges she may have had implementing the new goals, and also reassessed the worksheets the following week (Harley, Baity, Blais, & Jacobo, 2007). The client had difficulty with the time management schedule as she blamed her boyfriend for not sticking to her schedule.
