Clinical Meeting Reflection

Over the course of these past two weeks, a lot has taken place. The week before clinical started and before I attended clinical orientation I was unsure and nervous about the expectations this semester, but how clinical would operate or work overall. Monday, January 25th was extremely helpful at getting me back into the swing of things and easing some of my worries. By the end of our group meeting that day, I knew what was going to be expected of me this semester, exactly what I was doing on each clinical day, and what I needed to be prepared for each day. The group care plan, helped me to get thinking and making connections again after having a few months off. That evening after we had our formal orientation and minimal computer training, receiving our assignments for the next week and being able to really navigate for the VA computer & charting system for the first time allowed me to practice and better familiarize myself with the system. I feel confident in myself that I can with aid in some cases use and will use everything from these past two weeks not only on the floor in the VA this semester but throughout my career. Those things range from improved ways of approaching dementia patients to safely and successfully utilizing assistive lift and transfer equipment. I am excited and looking forward to what the semester brings, and ready to learn better
