My leadership philosophy is embedded in my commitment to the Coast Guard Core Values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. As a Senior Chief Petty Officer, I honor our profession through my moral representation to my family and my service. I have consistently held high standards for myself and others while believing that honoring past accomplishments along with supporting the changing dynamics of our Coast Guard is significant. Recognize that my job is not simply to be a subject matter expert, but also to serve as a senior enlisted leader that is a role model for those both junior and senior to me. I have committed myself to continual leadership and ethical development and I believe this provides me with a unique outlet to demonstrate to those junior and senior to me that I am a member that has fully embraced the Core Value of Respect. I believe two of the most effective ways to demonstrate respect is to first, empower those who look up to me to display their creativity and innovation in all that they do. Serving twenty years in the United States Coast Guard I have tremendous respect for the leaders and peers that have matured me into a positive and dynamic leader. I strongly believe that the significant energy invested in me greatly benefits our organization and the members that I work with. Positive leaders in my past have taught me that effective communication up and down the chain of command is the machine that drives a knowledgeable and favorable workforce. Working with male and female leaders has demonstrated to me that diversity in our workforce encourages a variety of open communication forums and produces a mutual respect amongst our members. My exposure to positive and negative leaders has taught me how impactful these attitudes can impact unit climates for good or for worse.
