Coco Chanel was a fashion inspiration who ruled the fashion empire for decades. Her classic pieces changed the look of fashion. Her hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated throughout the fashion world today. With the help of her many wealthy partners, Chanel put her creative mind to work and created the world’s most popular haute couture house.
Although Coco Chanel lived a very luxurious life, she did not grow up in a wealthy household. Gabrielle Bonheur is her full name and she had five siblings. “She was born in 1883 in a hospice for the poor in the Loire Valley” (Warner 21). At a young age, her mother passed away and her father sent her to an orphanage. Gabrielle did not like the orphanage and fled to a Catholic boarding school for girls. At the boarding school, she was raised by nuns who taught her how to sew. This was a useful skill that helped her later in life.

Because of the comeback she made at such an old age, she holds the honored place everyone respects in today’s society. Chanel worked long hard hours every day, continuing to build up the massive industry she created. In 1971, she passed away after a hard day’s work.
