Colin Powell accomplished many goals in his lifetime. As an award winning military representative, he received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Soldiers Metal. Along with all his achievements, he completed many rescues, and wars for our country. Still honored today as one of the nation’s most successful heroes, Colin will always be remembered for his heroism. His legacy lives on in the following quote, “ What I really wanted was to do the best I could every single day. By doing my best every day, day after day, year after year, I finally got to the top.” However, he began his military journey after college when he joined the U.S Army. As a result, he entered the army as a second lieutenant. While Colin was in the military, he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Powell got wounded during his time in the war, but still had the strength and determination to overcome his injuries and help other people.

Colin Powell went to city college of New York, during the time that he decided to join the (ROTC). Powell became the rank of commander. With all of Powell’s hard work, by the end of the training he graduated the corps as a cadet colonel, the highest rank that you could earn. After Powell graduated from his training he got married and decided to expand his family with three children. Before the fact the he joined the U.S Army after he graduated college.
