• What are the advantages of having diversity in a collaborative learning environment? Diversity in a collaborative learning environment gives you a chance to consider multiple points of view on different ideas or opinions. It is up to you to make the right choice. People think more clearly when they are talking or listening. Creative brainstorming and group discussions encourage original thought. Good critical thinking involves thinking creatively about the assumptions that might have been left out and scrutinizing the quality of the evidence that is used to support a claim. To be a critical thinker, you need to be fair and open-minded, even if you don’t agree with certain ideas at first. Having more than one student involved in the learning process generates a greater number of ideas.

• How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect collaboration? When you have a diversity of people involved in a learning process, some students may not agree with other’s opinion. Critical thinker has an attitude-an attitude of wanting to avoid nonsense, to find the truth and to discover the best action. It’s an attitude that rejects intuiting what is right in favor of requiring reasons. Instead of being defensive or emotional, critical thinkers tends to be logical. Everyone has their own points of views when solving problems. Some students use their senses, abilities or personality to learn. Other’s may use multiple intelligence. This can affect collaboration on a learning team.
