The Neglected Case for Being Materialistic Looking back in 2009, I was attending my friend Jone’s birthday. After my friends and myself arrived the hotel we starting to look at what my friends had brought for Jone, I was very satisfied with what I had made for him: a handmade birthday card. However I knew the card was not as expansive as other gift that my friends bought for Jone but I thought the sincerity comes from my gifts. so why should to buy something luxury? It is because they will purchasing more upcoming materials to fulfill their new growing desire yet promote the hunger of capital craving. According to Gilbert: “We think money will bring lots of happiness for a long time, and actually it brings a little happiness for a short time” (Gilbert 30). Sadly, many of us only looking for the short period of happiness yet ignore the long term misgivings. Many of materialist are in debit and no saving at all. It is foolish, how about if you lost your job or fall sick? Do you just want to rely on your parents or simply ask money from the government? Can material goods replace the status of kinship? The answer should be negative, but here is a large amount of parents try to use material goods to pleasant their children. According to Bowlby: “If the child does not have the opportunity to form a special bond with the mother, she will have great difficulty in forming relationships with others in the future” (Bowlby 12).
