Going to college is expensive for everyone, but with the help of scholarships it doesn’t have to be. I have chosen to attend Southern Illinois University because of the proximity to my house and also because it is one of the cheapest universities in Illinois. Along with this, it is a very accredited university and also offers the master’s degree I wish to pursue. It is my hope that with the help of scholarships like this one, I will be able to pay for my schooling without taking out student loans. I have worked hard my entire high school career to have the opportunity to earn scholarships. I have participated in multiple activities ran by the Kiwanis Club such as a dog run 5k and a fishing derby. Volunteering at these activities is always a highlight of my day because helping other is something I love to do. Although I haven’t volunteered a lot lately, I hope that as high school comes to an end I can spend more time dedicated to others. I especially love the volunteer activities presented by The Kiwanis Club because they are very hands on. I love to see the participants of the activities enjoying themselves. Not only that, but the other volunteers as well as The Kiwanis Club sponsors are very kind and helpful during the events. This scholarship is a representation of someone who gives to others without asking for anything in return. As a nurse, I plan to dedicate the rest of my life to helping others heal and feel better. With this scholarship, it would make my schooling much more affordable so I can do what I love. I am a great portrayal of my school and an even better example of my community. I strive for the best each and every day, which is why I deserve to receive this
