Like many others, my life hasn't been easy, but the obstacles I've overcome have given me strength and have made me the person I am today. My experiences have helped me appreciate the little things and have also helped me realize that I only want happiness out of life. I feel that I am a good candidate for this scholarship because I am very driven and it will go to good use because I am always looking to better myself.
My father always struggled with depression, arguments and month-long silent treatments between my parents were common. A week after my thirteenth birthday my father to choke my mom in front of me after a particularly loud argument; that morning we changed the locks. I just want a successful career and a happy and comfortable life; a safe, quiet place to come home to and a warm bed to sleep in. I'm lucky enough to have a loving and encouraging family and significant other. My father was a lazy man and everything I do in life is so I don't turn out like him, I understand that only hard work and persistence will get me where I want to be in life.
Mom has been extremely supportive and made many sacrifices to allow me to focus on education. She has covered as much as she can, but money has been tight since my father has been out of the picture and my diagnosis. This program is a major and necessary stepping stone toward my goal of becoming an esthetician and receiving this scholarship will assist me making my goal a reality. If selected for this scholarship, I will continue to apply the same diligence to my life as I have my studies, making service to others my top priority. I will represent your organization well during my time in this program and
