I was born a triplet, which means I’ve had to live my life with the added challenge of distinguishing myself from two people who are physically identical to me. Growing up, our parents dressed us alike, we played the same sports, and we were in all the same classes. In our small hometown of Adrian, a city of about 20,000 people, the neighbors recognized us as one. We were “The Triplets”. Nevertheless, when the three of us were together, there was never a question of who led the way. From a young age, I was confident in my abilities and could build relationships with individuals who had different perspectives from my own. These strengths allowed me to differentiate myself from my brothers and create my own desired identity as a leader.
My ability to lead carried over into several areas of interest, starting in athletics, and shaped how I would operate as a leader for years to come. In high school, teammates picked me to captain three different sports teams. In college, I was elected

Over the past ten years, I have served in various leadership roles in two different states and have led four teams on international trips to Latin America. On these trips, I helped build houses and develop relationships with local Spanish-speakers to improve their communities. As a trip leader, I had to know when to follow the locals’ lead and understand the importance they placed on developing quality relationships. Even without speaking Spanish, I worked under their direction and forged a bond with several of the local leaders during my time there. Many of those bonds still exist today, and I stay in touch with them on a regular basis. These relationships resulted in Young Life establishing long-term partnerships with the local communities in Latin America, which was essential to continued community
