Going to college and earning a degree is a risky challenge, but a worthwhile for those that graduate. Being the first of your family to graduate from college can be an honor and will make your family proud. Even though it is costly, in the end it will be worth it, because getting a college degree will help you get on your feet to start a career that will help invest in your future, it will also better your chances of getting a higher position when seeking a job, and in the end when you’re successful, you will be able to give your children the opportunity to receive a good education. Some careers actually require a degree, therefore if that career is what you want then there should be no problem when looking for a position if you have a degree. When competing for a position, if the other person does not have a career, it is most likely that you will earn the spot. On the contrary, there is a Fellowship that pays students to not attend college, “some entrepreneurial students may be better off leaving college”, (Wieder). Even though they pay students $100,000 to drop out, that much right there may be a salary for an attorney with a doctorate. Someone with a degree can earn that per year for staying in college instead of dropping out. Of course everyone who is in the right mind set wants the best for their children and for them to get a good education including an education in college, however, they might not be able to do so if they don’t have a degree. As said in the article “Is College Worth It?” a report states that, “Adults who did not attend college believe that, on average, they are earning $20,000 a year less as a result.” These adults are more likely to have children and are probably not as financially stable to send their kids to college as a parent who does have a college
