Becoming a nurse is something that I have been thinking about for a long time. My mother is a retired Nurse and she has often shared with me both the joys and frustrations that she experienced throughout her career; what ultimately came through in these discussions was that there is no other job quite like nursing and that nurses can make a real difference in peoples’ lives. I have experienced this firsthand; wonderful nurses have been there when I have experienced the worst pain imaginable a nurse was there to make sure it was controlled, when my nephew was gravely injured deeply compassionate nurses were there to assist his family and friends in saying goodbye, when I experienced the loss of a baby a nurse was there to help my family grieve, and when I experienced the wonder and pain of …show more content…
I have been a hairstylist for over twenty years. I still enjoy it however, as stated earlier I have been thinking about becoming a nurse for a long time. I wasn’t certain how to accomplish my goal, as I am a busy mother of four children, also I realized that the program would be challenging and time consuming. My family was also dependent on two incomes and I was well aware that I would not be able to work a great deal while attending nursing school and caring a family of six. I have an incredibly supportive husband who encouraged me to follow my dream knowing that the family would have to make sacrifices. Even with financial aid and loans money is still incredibly tight, that is why I am pursuing scholarships to help ease the burden on my family. With all of the demands of my time I have still strived for academic excellence. I was rewarded last semester with placement on the Dean’s list and acceptance into the nursing program. I plan on Graduating from the program with honors and I will do whatever it takes to that end. I hope that you will give consideration to a dedicated returning
