Fire accidents happen much to often in the United States. According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) from 2002 to 2012 3,005 deaths have been recorded due to fires. “The USFA collects data from a variety of sources to provide information and analyses on the status and scope of the fire problem in the United States” ("U.S. fire statistics"). The Collinwood Fire Disaster happened on March 4,
1908 in Collinwood, Ohio at Lakeview Elementary School. This fire changed school safety in the United States . ("Collinwood School Fire | Cleveland Historical") This disaster brought about many fire fatalities, some structural problems, poor building materials, and some great changes for school and ones perspectives on a fire.

A fire along is tragic with all the damage it can cause to belongs but when it brings about fatalities it is just heart breaking. Lakeview Elementary school fire started around 9 o'clock on the 4th of March, 1908. Nine year old Niles Thompson managed to escape by jumping out of a window. Along followed 200 other children who also managed to escape the fire. Niles went into a panic when he realized his brother was still inside of the school. Those two children never made it out alive. Niles and his brother Thomas were among the 172 kids that didn’t survive this horrible deadly fire. Nineteen of the children that died could not even be identified. The fire also took the lives of two teachers that ended up getting trapped with no way to escape. All of this occurred in less then thirty minutes ("Collinwood School Fire | Cleveland
