Is it better to be known as Black, White, or both? Do you get more acknowledgement if you’re white? Is a black person equal to a white person or vice versa? Color Barrier is an unspoken social code of racial segregation or discrimination in things such as sports, education and public services. In 1947 African American Robinson broke baseball’s all-time color barrier. Racial discrimination among all minority groups have been around for a long time in America. Such as African Americans, there has been a long history of racial discrimination among this group. Viola Davis is an American actress and producer. Octavia Spencer, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for “The Help”, is only the sixth black woman to win an Academy award for acting. The year of 1940 Hattie McDaniel became the very first black woman to be nominated for and win, and Oscar. This is where the segregated part came in at, her and her guest were seat at a segregated table. She did not remain seated with everyone else, her table was elsewhere. Since Hattie’s nomination only five African American women won an acting Oscars award.

Chris Rock recently hosted the 88th Oscars award. While hosting, Rock immediately mentioned the #OscarsSoWhite and the Academy’s decision to include black members in film such as Straight Outta Compton, Creed and Concussion which they all received nominations. His solution to having black nominees was to create “black” categories.
