I would like to propose a toast to my daughter, Katelyn, who graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Criminal Justice. As your mom, I look back on the past 22 years and wonder where the time has gone. It seems just like yesterday, bringing you home from the hospital, caring for you, reading to you and teaching you how to talk, walk and ride a bike. I always knew that you were going to be unstoppable, you were always inquisitive, knowing part of your ABC’s, asking, “who’s that?” and “what’s that?” before you even turned a year old. At such a young age you would sit for hours and play Jumpstart Spanish, and argue with me that the color black was called “maybelline”. …show more content…
After all, some things never change, that stubbornness is still with you today. Once you reached school age, you were like a sponge wanting to learn more and more and the teachers were never wrong. Matter of fact, whatever the teachers said was written in stone. You consistently worked hard to maintain A’s throughout elementary and middle school, graduating from high school in the top 24 of your class with honors. And then, in a blink of an eye here I am celebrating with you one of your greatest achievements. I am so proud of everything that you have accomplished through these past sixteen years of schooling. You showed dedication and commitment to your education and made it a priority while working and also the interference it had on your social life. It hasn’t always been easy, but you have worked hard and maintained a positive attitude throughout the years and now look where that dedication has brought you. As your mom, I am so proud of the woman that you have become. You are truly amazing and inspiring to me. I hope and pray that you will be given the opportunity to put your education to good use when landing your first job. I look forward to being part of your future endeavors.
