On the morning of April 20, 1999 both Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold will forever change life as we know it? The two teenage boys are responsible for the most horrific event to occur on school grounds. Leaving fifteen dead and twenty others seriously injured, including themselves. Prior to the incident, both Harris and Klebold were reportedly planning this horrible massacre for about a year. During the duration of the planning, many signs were indicated that the two were up to no good but still nothing was done to prevent the shooting from happening. For instance, about a year before the killing spree occurred, authorities were informed by concerned parents that their son was being threatened by Eric Harris through the internet. In his story he wrote about a hit man “wearing a black trench coat who shoots at students and bombs the city”. Once again nothing was done. The paper resembled something very similar to what Eric and Dylan ended up doing on the day of April 20, 1999. Even though the two teenage boys had approximately a little over a year to plan the shooting, things did not go the way they had envision it to be. It has been said that Eric and Dylan were both hoping that the school was going to blow up while they waited outside in the parking lot ready to shoot at students trying to escape the explosion. However, that was not the case and the shooters were forced to improvise. Many argue that police and swat teams that were on the scene did not do their job. Instead of going in to challenge the shooters, they stood back watching Eric and Dylan commit the biggest school shooting in history. Today we look back at this horrible event at use it as a guide for what not to
