My article was called “OPINION: Columbus Deserves To Be Honored” written by Thomas J. Lucente Jr. for The Lima News (OH). He opens his article by calling people who refused to celebrate Columbus Day insane by saying “Last week, the United States, or at least the sane part, celebrated Columbus Day”. The rest of the article, he cites facts that are either irrelevant, or just plain wrong. His main defence for Columbus is that the American Indians did much worse. He says that they were “a disgusting and brutal people”, citing that there is a mass grave in South Carolina, and in some places 25% of the people were enslaved.
