A satellite is any object that orbits a larger object such as machines, planets or moons that orbits stars or planets. For instance, the earth is a satellite because it orbits the sun. There are natural and artificial satellites in the galaxies. Natural satellites are like the moon and earth, the moon orbits the earth and the earth orbits the sun. There are thousands of artificial satellites in the galaxies that have been launched by scientists. Some orbit the earth to take pictures of it and make it easier for scientists to be able to study and understand the earth, while others take pictures of other planets, stars, black holes, sun, dark matters and other galaxies were it orbit in their space, which help meteorologists to understand the …show more content…
Comets that orbit the sun for less than two hundred years are called short period comets. Where long period comets, are comets that orbits the sun about five thousand to one hundred thousand years. Days on comets differ from to another Scientists believes that comets only have tails when they are around the sun, but when they go far from it, they are tremendously cold, dark icy objects. When the comets are so close to the sun they ice on it starts to heat up and vaporize releasing dust and gases. The closer the comets gets to the sun, the warmer it gets which as a result puts pressure on it and gets blown away forming dust tails. Comets comes in different shapes and sizes. Comets can rarely hit the earth, but when it did once millions of years ago, it killed all the dinosaurs. Comets are not like planets; they do not have moons or rings. Scientists have been always interested in studying and understanding comets; there have been more than twenty operations to search the comets from different angles. Scientists believe that a collision between comets and Earth have brought to Earth the organic compounds and
