Do you ever notice how some people have two sides? This is the case in A SeparatePeace by John Knowles. A Separate Peace is about two boys that have to deal with the warinvading their school, Devon, and their coming of age. One of the main characters in A SeparatePeace is Finny. In this novel, Finny is a magnetic, charismatic character whom people cannothelp but liking, but he is also manipulative, immature, and self-centered. He is not nearly asinnocent as he seems.In the novel, Finny is a very likeable guy. The first example is that his jokes are hilarious.An example is Finny’s joke about Gene’s clothes in chapter 8. Another example is that Genelikes and is jealous of Finny’s athletic rewards, so to match it he wants to be their classvaledictorian.
