I would like to personally thank you for what you have done for the African American community. Thank you for signing executive order 8802. By allowing African Americans to join the military, you have not only made the lives of thousands of African Americans, and their families, better, but the country a safer place. Because of you, the military will be able to grow approximately 10 percent within the next few years, because as of 1940, African Americans make up 9.8 percent of the entire population of the United States.The military will grow with the thousands of African Americans who are willing to enlist in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It was an honor for us to have flown the First Lady of the United States down at our training grounds. We have been serving our country well in the fight against Germany, as our loss record is among the lowest in the entire military. We have been extremely successful in the bombings of German bases during the war so far, and hope to be even more in the future. Defeating the Germans, Italians and the Japanese begins with uniting the country at home first. We are stronger when united, and you have helped unite the country. Even though we do not serve alongside our white brothers in the military, we share the sense of pride while wearing the uniform. We are some of the best fighters in the Air Force. We are great at shooting down planes and carrying out aerial raids. One time, one of us shot down three German planes, part of Luftwaffe, in one day. To this day, we have never lost one bomber in the few years we have been fighting in the war. We would like to encourage you to be more vocal about the achievements of minorities in the war, which would hopefully encourage more minorities to enlist in the military. We could use more minorities, not just African Americans, but Mexican Americans, and even Japanese Americans, if they are able to fight for us.
