Do you like good books? Then you will like, “Okay for Now.” “Okay for Now” is a book about a boy named Doug. Doug’s life is bad because his brother and dad are mean to him. Through Doug’s struggle of moving to Marysville, he learns to deal with his miserable life. In the book “Okay for Now “the author, Gary D. Schmidt, uses coming of age through moving, bad gym teachers embarrassing him with his tattoo, and his brother coming home from Vietnam. To make things worse his brother lost his legs in the war. Doug might live a bad life but he learns to be okay with it once he gets use to Marysville. Coming of age is used to describe a person growing up, like how Doug moved to Marysville.
