I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and I am on page 208. This book is about the Finch family. Two young kids, Scout and Jem, living in Alabama while their dad is a full time lawyer working on a case with a black man being charged with rape. In this journal I will be questioning. In this paragraph I will be questioning the mob scene. The mob left because of the kids. Some reason’s they left was because Scout was embarrassing Mr. Cunningham. She started talking about entailment; she heard her father and Mr. Cunningham talking about earlier. The group of men showed up smelling like stale whiskey. Jem did not want to leave and have something happen to Atticus or his sister. After how much embarrassment Scout put Mr. Cunningham in he told the men “Let’s get going boys” (Lee 206). I think that Calpurnia is a better mother figure than Aunt Alexandra. Calpurnia is a better mother figure because she is willing to be a mother figure to the kids and calls them her kids. “I don’t want anybody sayin’ I don’t look after my children” (Lee 157). One example of this is when Jem and Scout found an old sick dog wandering down the road.
