SHC21: Introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people setting

1.1: identify different reasons why people communicate.
To express their needs and feeling children and young people should be able to express themselves in any way they most feel comfortable also for that adult to understand the children and their needs so they feel that they needs have been attended to.
To maintain relationships such as the key person talking to the parents so they feel comfortable and connected with each other so is easy to swap information when it comes to the child at hand.
1.2: explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work.
Within the children I communicate using the techniques, basic simple words that the children and understand easily such as “I am not happy”. Developing a relationship with parents, colleagues also any child at hand is important that your communications must be effective.
Any information’s given must be clear and shown understanding non judgmental to let the individual know she or he is a part of that conversation to also encourage the person to talk by asking opened ended questions, sensitive langue should be used if needed also your posture must be relaxed not too relaxed so that individual doesn’t feel you are ignorant.
1.3 explain why it is important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them. If the individual is unable to speak the national langue the option of someone who speaks same langue as the individual is unavailable you are left with no choice but to observe the individual reactions as the body langue does show how really feel.
Making sure your facial expression matches to the mood of the conversation friendly smile to make one feel welcome, body langue so one knows you are happy to be there to talk. If a conversation does go on for too long one may lose interest as a child will start to play up an adult may react in a way you will unsupported and in future refuse to talk to you because may not have much time at hand. To observe individual when communicating to see mood and to know when to stop talking.
2.1 find out an individual’s communication and language needs, wishes and preferences.
I can find out by reading the individuals care plan or asking key person or observing the individual to see how they react to any current situations, maintaining eye contact throughout the conversations shows the individuals. In many cultures touching while greeting is more than expected some hand shaking others hugging or even a kiss
