The Community Action Coalition (C.A.C.) has been set up in a small community office for over 10 years (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2012). The C.A.C. is there to help enhance the lives of the community members and are now looking at trying to have mental health care assistance available and have applied for a grant (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2012). There is resistance from a local community mental health center that serves the area which causes a large conflict the morning of the visit for grant approval due to they already provide mental health services for the area.
How could this confrontation have been avoided?

The confrontation that occurred could have been avoided by proper communication with the community mental health center in the area. The C.A.C’s leaders plan to add mental health services was a good plan, but before implementing the plan further research and meetings with the local mental health center should have happened. The C.A.C. had not been involved with assisting with mental health issues in the area and needed to have a better background in mental health before adding the services to their organization. The C.A.C. should have started with trying to build a partnership with the community mental health center, which would have allowed for them to have the education and assistance in planning that was needed.

If you were a member of the staff of the Community Action Coalition, what steps might you take to salvage the planning and implementation
