We the Indiana University Purdue University of Columbus could benefit greatly from an effort to improve the outdoor spaces on campus. The benefits laid out in this paper will show how we as a community can be made better by making certain well thought-out and insightful decisions about what we choose to do with the common greenspace around campus. We intend to show the ways in which this project can be completed in a cost efficient manor, the benefits it will have to the emotional and psychological well-being of those on campus, and the effects it will have on the environment and eco-system. If the garden were started from seeds the estimated cost would be around seventy-dollars. The price of the trees for the garden is based on the age of saplings for native trees ranging from six dollars a tree to seventy-two dollars a tree. (Home Depot, 2015) The timeline of establishing the garden would be effected by permit acquisition, funding, and voluntary labor pools. Based off the National Recreation and Park Association, starting a community garden will take over a year. Insurance is a grantee of protection that allows businesses and establishments to avoid incurring unanticipated costs or costs that would be debilitating.
