A community consists of people living together in a particular place, sharing similar values, culture, and friendships. This important aspect is highlighted from the beginning and continues to ring true. The importance of community is portrayed by unity or lack thereof, identity, and kinship in Bodega Dreams. This community that Bodega is building is continuously focused on the creations of solutions for the people. In other words a better life and a way to get out as I saw it. While other communities are more on things such as security, protection, support, and belonging, while revealing dedication. The individual communities have a strong influence on the aspirations and actions of many of the main characters.

Loyalty is something that peaked my interest and I felt was important from the very beginning. It seemed to me to be extremely desirable to Bodega and at times gave me this idea that that’s all he cared about. Bodega invests much time, energy, and money into the Harlem community. It is about the building up of this community, and giving people hope and ability to thrive further than they ever dreamt possible. But it becomes very evident that individual control of a community takes a backseat to the power of relationships. People weren’t coming together the way he needed to. Although I see that Bodega has this whole grandiose dream of East Harlem coming together as one he understands there’s multiple aspects he must focus on in order to achieve this. Does he know just how many aspects and how in depth they are? That is a question I continue to ask myself now. I’m not sure he did realize how many things had to change in order for a whole community to change. But one thing he did understand was giving these people a better life to live or at least hope for a better tomorrow went a long way in bringing people
