Without friends, Earth would be a quite desolate place. That is why it is essential that everyone has companions. In “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, two friends set out to find work at a ranch. They are met with challenges that they overcome with other people they encounter. Companionship is very crucial because or else it can make you lonesome, makes you do things for the benefit of another person and makes them care for the another’s well being. One reason companionship is essential is that if you don’t have friends you can be very lonely. The importance of companionship is expressed when Crooks said. “A guy goes nuts if he ain’t got nobody”(Steinbeck 72). Crooks is black and due to this he is excluded.
