Though Andrew Jackson and John Ross both spoke about the Indian Removal, they had complete opposite opinions than each other. In his letter to congress from 1830, President Andrew Jackson said, “ it… will retard the the process of decay, which is lessening their numbers” (Jackson, 40). When andrew Jackson said this, he explained that in his point of view, it would benefit the Native Americans by removing them from their homes to protect them from disease, and plague from the humans. Six years after that John Ross, chief of the Cherokee, wrote a letter to congress stating, “ We are denationalized; we are disenfranchised” (Ross, 42). In this quote, Ross explained that by the actions of the removal, they are losing their rights of being humans,
