Climate and vegetation in Africa vary by region. Ethiopia and Somalia are the same distance from the equator but have very different climates. Ethiopia's climate is mild temperatures with abundant rain, which give the country perfect temperatures to grow coffee, dates and cereals. On the other hand, Somalian is hot and dry, and farming is only near rivers or oases. Twenty percent of Africa is rainforests, which support a lot of life forms. People in the rainforests live villages, small cities, or farms. People who live in the rainforest also fish, hunt and harvest trees for their living. Another region in Africa is called a tropical savanna, which is a vast plain that can stretch for miles. Tropical Savannas have tall grass, small bushes and very few trees. There are two seasons for a tropical savanna; wet and dry. In the wet season, farmers grow crops and save for the dry season because in the dry season all the plants die, and it is impossible to farm. Beyond the savannas lie the deserts. Forestry is another resource that Africa has; this is because trees grow in almost all parts of Africa and can be replanted to make them a renewable resource like they do in Kenya and the Ivory Coast.
