America vs Dominican Republic

Growing up in Dominican in America gave me a chance to see the difference in both cultures. Being born in The United States and living in Dominican Republic things are handled in a two completely different ways. Life styles, discipline and education are all handled differently. American and Dominican ways vary significantly from how children are raised to food we eat and having experienced both ends of the spectrum gives me the ability to know the differences and take positives from both ends to incorporate them in my life.

There is no talking back or bad mouthing anyone of any age. I raised my children the way my mother raised me. I taught them that they can be corrected on their actions not physically but verbally communicating, but they also know the consequences of crossing the line.

Despite discipline being given many ways in both America and Dominican Republic crime is still very high in both countries. Lack of education, money and employment opportunities has caused increase in crime. In Dominican Republic there are a lot of robberies and killings due to the poor who find the easiest way to money. Since jobs are scarce people have to find alternative ways to provide. Also Dominican Republic schooling is not free. So no job means no money hence no education. Due to this the crime rate has increase significantly.

While in the US crimes are committed by any type of individual no matter your financial or education level. Crimes are committed even by the most educated and payed person either because of anger, revenge, financial benefits and racial reasons. Both counties might have high crimes but the punishments are different. In the United States you are innocent until you are proven guilty of the crime. You go through a trial and due to your crime you will be sentenced accordingly. In Dominican Republic you are guilty until you are proven to be innocent of the crime and there is no chance of being
