Furthermore, they both have secrets of dark magic. Gandalf has discovered that the Baggins' ring is the One Ring. Gandalf knows the most recent happenings of the the Ring (from Smeagol thru present) and tells all this to main character, Frodo. Dumbledore is the only person to discover Voldemort's secrets and he tells them all to Harry. Moreover, they are great leaders to the people who follow them. Dumbledore is headmaster of Hogwarts, and tries to keep everyone safe. Gandalf is the obvious authority figure and attempts to keep his band of people and animals
