A jail is a place of confinement for individuals who have been charged with an illegal act. The criminal justice system in America needs jails in order to keep up with the arriving offender populations. People, who are convicted of offense usually, that are higher than misdemeanors, are sometimes held at the jail level due to maximum capacities that have been reached by the state and federal levels. If we did not have these detention centers within all of the counties in the United States, there would be more expensive ways to transport offenders to different locations. There are many differences between the Wabash county jail and the Huntington county jail and our field trips to both of these goals, made such an enormous impact on my opinion towards both of them. With the technology, the environment they are currently in, and the freedom they could be given. There are a lot of similarities that there are differences in each and every jail, but we just so happen to be coming across two specific county jails.

The Huntington County Jail was built in 1984 at a cost around 2 million dollars. It is designed to house 99 inmates, but averages 100-105 inmates throughout the year. In 1998 a second floor was added which is for office space and a large meeting

All depending on where they are placed. It is normally just a jumpsuit or a pair scrubs. For anyone visiting an inmate at either place, you have to be properly dressed. Any clothing considered inappropriate will not be allowed. Then you will have to leave. I think it is great that they have to wear uniforms in the jails because then there would not be people judging others for how they look nor dress. As well as there would not be anyone worrying about how they can endanger others with certain parts of their clothing by the strings, zippers, and shoe laces. Everyone is safe and
