In the book “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, Johnny and Dally are hospitalized due to their condition. They were both injured by being in the burning church. Johnny and Dally are very different in many ways but, one similarity is that they don’t have family support. Johnny’s dad beats him while his mother sits there and watches. Dally claims that he never had a good relationship with his Dad and doesn’t mention much about his mother. In the hospital Darry says that he, Soda, and Ponyboy are "about as much family as Dally and Johnny have.” I think Darry said this because their families do not really care about them.
