With the two stories Raymond’s Run and Maniac Magee they have differences. Maniac Magee is about a homeless boy looking for a family. Raymond’s Run is about a girl who is overprotective of her brother. They both have a similar theme of sometimes you need friends in life.
In Maniac Magee Maniac/Jeffrey meets a girl at school named Amanda Beale. Amanda shows Jeffrey her books in her bag and Jeffrey is shocked. Jeffrey wants to borrow a book and then they both start talking to each other and then Amanda has to go inside of the school. Then Jeffrey starts living with The Beales. Later on, in the story, something happens to Jeffrey that he doesn’t like and he wants to leave town. The point of this passage is to show that sometimes you need friends
