The Mayflower Compact and the Declaration of Independence are both social contracts, which mean they both gave up a little freedom for security. The Mayflower Compact is a social contract, because men that were on the Mayflower wanted protection, so they signed the contract and agreed to live by the laws of the government. The Declaration of Independence, shows a good example of social contract, by showing the government’s role as well as an individual’s part. The role of Christian faith discussed in the Declaration of Independence, stresses the importance of our natural rights.
