Have you ever seen a wolf or a wolf pack? In the excerpt, “Julie of the wolves” there is a girl called Miyax and she wants to talk to the wolf leader Amaroq to get food as she is very hungry from being lost in the tundra. Meanwhile, in the other passage “A Wolf Finds His Place in the Pack” who is called Scruffy, and he is a low-ranking wolf in the pack, but he is very serious when around wolf pups. There are many ways to compare Miyax and Scruffy but I am going to talk about their actions around wolf pups. Also, how they express themselves through their actions. In Miyax’s case, she got lost in the tundra and luckily happens to find a wolf pack. Being a playful and kind person she uses it to her advantage to gain acceptance by the wolf leader. She does this by moving her body and changing her behavior as she got closer to the pack. This is probably due to his lack of hunting skills and being too dependent. In the author’s view,” He was timid and depended on the others to take care of him.” In making this comment, the story argues, Scruffy’s behavior showed him to be timid and afraid of the other wolves. After the pups were born, Scruffy found an important role in the pack. He became like a father to them. According to the text it says,” I’m in charge now. You pups better obey.” This shows that he became responsible in taking care of them. Indeed, both Miyax and Scruffy needed to be accepted by the wolf pack for different reasons. Miyax won the trust of the wolf pack and their leader by pretending to be a wolf like them. Similarly, Scruffy found his true calling in the wolf pack by being a responsible care taker to the wolf pups. Both of these characters, although different worked hard to gain trust from the wolf
