Paul Rabil and Rob Pannell are considered the greatest lacrosse players ever. With their impressive Tewaaraton Awards, the equivalent of the Heisman in football, and their numerous championship successes, these players are a perfect match. While each player is considered great, there is was a world of difference in their careers. For many athletes their are the naturally gifted and the ones who have to work hard to shine. Paul Rabil was naturally gifted, excelling in all sports he played. He won state championships in basketball, football, and lacrosse in high school. Paul Rabil is the guy you need to go to the goal. He will bulldoze through the defense and score with no one in front to stop him. Rob Pannell plays by taking his time to go to the goal looking for the pass first rather than shooting. The importance through his pass first method allows for a higher percentage shot, allowing more goals to be scored. However, Rabil who shoots whenever he catches the ball is more of a ball hog. While he does look for the higher percentage he would rather shoot the ball resulting in less goals. Their shots are also very different Rob Pannell doesn’t shoot the ball hard because he is an inside attackman, the position nearest to the goal, and requires more ball placement than speed. Paul Rabil has accuracy in his shot but he trade accuracy for a harder shot which results in a lower reaction time for the goalie.
