The Lord of the Flies is filled with many interesting characters with many similarities and differences. Ralph and Jack are two boys that stick out of there group. They both are very alike but also very different at the same time. They both contributed in major ways to the outcome of the Lord of the Flies. “They’re all dead.” Said Piggy, “an’ and I think this is an island.” (Golding Pg. 14) Ralph is the novel’s protagonist a was elected the leader of the group. He is twelve years old and one of the older boys on the island. Ralph shows a lot of different characteristics throughout the story. He showed that he was a leader when he was elected leader of the group by the boys. Ralph faced many struggles throughout the story. He was abandoned by most of the boys in the group when they doubted him. Ralph is a caring person and believed that their first priority should of been to keep a signal fire and get rescued off the island. Ralph stood up for the littlums when a lot of the other picked on them. Ralph thought that the boys should have rules and that here should be consequences for thoses who broke the rules. Ralph showed intelligence in letting Jack be the leader of the choir boys or the hunters because he knew he had to give Jack something or else he would not listen and rebel against him. They both showed leadership at different parts of the story. They both had their own groups and they where both the leaders. They both showed that there at times cruel and evil when they both took part in killing Simon by stoning him to death. They also showed this when they were hunting and played a game where they beat a boy viciously. I believe the moral of this story is that no matter how good you are at times people will always have an evil side to them. “ The conch is gone- He ran forward, stooping. I’m Chief!
